About the Role

Job Title: Accountant

Responsibilities:

Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Analyze accounts and business plans.
Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits.
Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
Manage all accounting transactions and ensure timely bank payments.
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes.
Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
Skills/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as an accountant.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
Excellent administration skills.
Great attention to detail.
Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.

Requirements

  • Education:

    1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field is generally required. Some positions may require a master's degree in a related field or an MBA.

    Experience:

    1. Experience in accounting or a related field, such as auditing or business management, is typically required. The amount of experience required can vary based on the specific job level and the company.

    Certifications:

    1. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designations are often preferred and sometimes required. Other certifications, such as the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), may also be beneficial depending on the specific role.

    Skills:

    1. Strong mathematical skills and an understanding of data privacy standards.

    2. Familiarity with accounting software and programs (like QuickBooks or Microsoft Excel).

    3. Strong understanding of taxation processes and financial legislation.

    4. Detail-oriented and ability to analyze, organize, summarize, and present complex financial reports.

    5. Good communication and problem-solving skills.

    6. Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.

    7. Strong time management and organizational skills.
