About the Role

Job Title: Nail Technician

Responsibilities:

Clean, cut and shape nails.
Recommend colors, rhinestones and designs based on each customer’s style.
Apply nail treatments and nail polish.
Prepare and clean beauty station in-between appointments.
Sterilize equipment before use.
Inform clients about additional services and offers (e.g. loyalty discounts, eyebrow waxing).
Give hand and foot massages.
Offer nail care treatment tips (e.g. how to strengthen nails and how to make manicures last longer).
Up-sell treatments and beauty products, when appropriate.
Take an interest in customers (e.g. chatting with them during appointments and remembering their preferences).
Skills/Qualifications:

High school diploma.
Certification in Cosmetology or Nail Art is a plus.
Proven work experience as a Nail Technician, Manicurist or similar role.
Expertise in basic and advanced nail techniques, including french manicures, airbrushing and gel manicures.
Knowledge of cosmetology trends.
Understanding of sanitation and sterilization standards.
Experience in customer service.
High level of creativity and attention to detail.
Ability to offer a high level of customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • Education:

    1. Completion of a state-approved cosmetology or nail technician program is usually required.

    Certification/Licensing:

    1. Nail Technicians must be licensed to practice in their state. This typically involves passing a state-approved exam after completing an approved education program.

    Experience:

    1. Some salons or spas may prefer candidates with experience, but many are open to training newer technicians.

    Skills:

    1. Good customer service skills: Nail Technicians interact directly with clients and should be friendly, courteous, and able to make their clients feel comfortable.

    2. Creativity and a good eye for design: This is especially important for Nail Technicians who do nail art or complex designs.

    3. Attention to detail: A great Nail Technician will be able to perform their work with precision.

    4. Good hand-eye coordination and steady hands.

    5. Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards in the salon environment.

    Physical Requirements:

    1. Nail Technicians spend a lot of time on their feet and need to be able to use their hands and fingers skillfully.
